I hope Newhook will pan out to be a better player than Jost or Kaut

Did you see Jost in the playoffs? Dude looked amazing! Kaut hasn't even played an NHL game yet...geez! Avs did a great job in Round 1. We have a major logjam on D now though

Krebs' injury must have been the tiebreaker, though there was smoke about the Avs liking Newhook in particular this past week. Fits their MO of being unafraid of the BCHL and favoring speed. Will be interesting to compare both going forward. His ceiling really could be 70 point racer like Duchene.

I was hoping Byram would fall to the Kings with all the great D men the avs have. But I'm good with Turcotte.

There is no team better positioned to become a dynasty right now than the Avs. Feels like every move they have made the last few years has been a homerun.

Getting Byram and Newhook this year just adds to it...

Ah Dynasties! The Avs could have been a cup contender years ago but they couldn't keep/pay players like Stastny, O'Reilly, Shattenkirk, Duchene, Anderson and soon Barrie will be one of them. The problem with building a great team is the salary cap. Just ask Toronto, they haven't won anything yet and they have hard time to keep their core intact.

Mack and Landeskog are on team friendly deals allowing the Avs to build and still be within the cap

I would take Boeser for Barrie, Van probably wouldn't do it though. Rumor was they were offering the 10th plus Virtanen for Barrie and #16. Glad Sakic said no
